Manage Your Move During the Holidays

The holiday season is the time you relax, sit back in the comfort of your home, and smell that nice turkey as it’s cooked in the oven. But what if you have to move your home during the holidays? Moving during the holidays is a tough ask particularly because that’s the time of the year you want to really enjoy the comforts of your home.

Plus holiday time is just about the busiest time in the year, with events, parties, shopping, get-together with friends and family, and plethora of entertainment happening around you. How do you take time out in such a busy schedule? That’s what makes it more difficult.

However, with the right direction and a few handy tips, you’ll be able to make the move from your old home to a new one in no time at all.

Organization is the Name of the Game

What’s the first thing you do when you are looking to move? Pack your stuff into card board boxes? Wait a minute, before you do that, you need to get your things in order, eliminate the waste and make sure you have a lean size of things you pack and carry to your next house. Go through each category of stuff and ensure that you have taken the unnecessary things out. Once you have accumulated a sizable number of stuff, let the festive spirit get to you and donate that stuff to one of  the many charities in your area.

Don’t Ruin the Holidays for the Kids

“Dad why aren’t we having the same fun as last year”, “It’s because we have to move our house dear”, “Oh, okay I understand”. This might be an ideal conversation you hope might take place when you are looking to explain to the kids why the only present for them this year is unpacking boxes of old stuff. In reality, things promise to be pretty different.

Kids are kids; they won’t understand that having to move to a new home in these holidays means they won’t get any gifts. They’ll continue to pester and annoy you on the boring holidays they are going through. So what do you do to not ruin their holidays? Plan ahead. Buy gifts in advance since you won’t be able to find time once you get started with the moving. Gifts make everything better as far as kids go.

Take a Vacation

Take a vacation in the middle of moving your home, are we crazy for suggesting this to you? No not really. Come holiday times you can take a vacation during the holidays as your things are moved from one place to another. All you need to do is find a reliable, dependable mover and once you do that. Before the holiday season is upon us, you need to pack your things in a container and leave them for the moving company to handle, while you make the most of your yearly relaxation time.

Holidays are fun, well if you aren’t stressed and cranky. If you feel at ease during your moving, you’ll get through it laughing all the way through.
